Time of Setting of Hydraulic Cement by Vicat Needle adalah pengujian untuk menentukan waktu ikat awal (initial setting time) dan waktu ikat akhir (final setting time) dari semen hidrolik menggunakan alat Vicat Apparatus, sesuai standar ASTM C191 atau SNI 03-6827.

Kegunaan Pengujian

Mengetahui waktu ikat semen hidrolik

Waktu ikat mempengaruhi proses pengerjaan (workability) dan penjadwalan pekerjaan konstruksi.

Kontrol kualitas semen

Memastikan semen memiliki waktu ikat yang sesuai spesifikasi, tidak terlalu cepat atau terlalu lambat.

Evaluasi pengaruh bahan tambahan

Menguji efek admixture seperti accelerator atau retarder terhadap waktu ikat.

Prinsip Kerja Singkat

Persiapan pasta semen

Semen dicampur dengan air sesuai rasio standar untuk menghasilkan konsistensi normal (standard consistency).

Pengujian dengan Vicat Needle

Jarum Vicat diturunkan pada permukaan pasta semen di dalam cetakan berbentuk cincin.

Waktu ikat awal: saat jarum standar tidak lagi menembus sampai dasar cetakan.

Waktu ikat akhir: saat jarum dengan cincin anular (annular attachment) hanya meninggalkan bekas tipis di permukaan pasta.

Pencatatan waktu

Selang waktu dihitung sejak pencampuran awal hingga masing-masing kondisi tercapai.
